B960, a new multi-tenanted office and laboratory building on the Babraham Research Campus, has officially ‘Topped Out.’

Situated on the West of the campus to the rear of two scale-up buildings previously built by SDC in 2018, the new building will provide grow-on accommodation for existing or expanding life sciences companies allowing them to join the 60+ companies already inhabiting the campus.

SDC began constructing this joint venture between Babraham Research Campus and BioMed Realty in October 2022 and has quickly progressed on-site to reach this significant construction milestone.

A Topping Out ceremony was held on the 20th of April 2023 to signify the conclusion of the new building’s structure, with the final steelwork installed on the roof plant room. Project teams from BioMed Realty, Babraham Research Campus, and SDC marked the occasion with the signing of a commemorative plaque which will be sealed into the plant room.

A speech was given by SDC Director, Carl Bennett, discussing the company’s involvement in the scheme and previous work on the Babraham Research Campus;

Carl also noted the importance of this new building;

The building is due for completion in early 2024, and once complete will offer 40,000 sq ft of high-quality, sustainable multi-tenanted office and laboratory space.
