Topping Out at Brooklands

Project team members gathered last week to celebrate the official topping out at Brooklands.

Brooklands, a new sustainable office development in the centre of Cambridge, officially topped out last week. Project team members gathered to celebrate the occasion which signifies the building reaching the highest point of construction. Those involved in the project were able to sign the last steel beam before it was lifted into its final place, completing the building’s structure. SDC’s Managing Director, Adam Knaggs, and Wrenbridge’s Director Jamie Garrett, spoke to give thanks and commend the dedication of the project team thus far.

The finished scheme will provide 67,000 sq ft of Grade A office space across two buildings. As a future facing campus in the heart of one of the UK’s greenest cities, sustainability is the driving force behind the plans for Brooklands, and as such, the buildings are designed for net zero carbon, fossil free operation, and target a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Outside collaboration space has been a key feature of the development, with multiple roof terraces, and a tranquil courtyard bridging the gap between the buildings.

The project broke ground in June 2022 and is due for completion in 2024.
