A Tight Schedule - No Problem to SDC Special Projects Division
Date published: 10 October 2011
SDC Completes Work at The Bedford Girls' School
SDC Special Projects recently completed an intensive programme to successfully merge two Harpur Trust schools in Bedford to form The Bedford Girls' School. The extensive construction works on the former Dame Alice Harpur School site in Cardington Road, Bedford were completed through the 7 weeks of summer holiday closure.
In addition to creating a new car park, a new refectory server, two additional science laboratories, interior spaces were rationalised to create three ICT rooms and the remaining school was re-decorated and re-furbished. A new music school with specialist tutorial rooms was created in a Grade II listed building and a new language school formed in the former music school.
Paul Riley, Project Manager for Goodrich Projects said "This project was a real challenge which we build responsibly and economically, generating space through a more efficient and clever use of the schools existing stock".
