SDC Helps Fire Service in Rescue Drill
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service carried out an important exercise in the rescue of a body from a crane on the site of the new Northampton College at the Lower Mounts Campus. The body in this case was a dummy but the exercise undertaken by the Rope Rescue Team showed that the fire service have the ability to rescue someone who is working at height.
SDC were pleased to be able to offer the use of their tower crane which stands 26 metres high to the cab for this major exercise allowing the Fire and Rescue Services to show their climbing and rescue skills using this unusual structure.
This exercise is the first of two rescues taking place using
cranes, the next one will be at Northampton College's Booth Lane
where SDC have offered the use of a tower crane which is 44 metres
high.
