It is estimated that up to 90 million mobile phones are discarded in drawers and cupboards across the UK - these weigh 11,250 tonnes, the equivalent to more than 30 Boeing 747s!.
SDC recognised that sustainability is not only about environmental action and decided to recycle their old mobile phones therefore ensuring that potentially toxic handsets are safely removed from the waste chain and at the same time this initiative led by Purchase Ledger Clerk Pat Velotta generated over £500 of revenue which was donated to the RSPCC and The Sue Ryder Care.
